This week and last week the 4th graders have been correlating Earth Day with the 7th Commandment and learning how God’s creation is meant for all people.
As a service project the class, as a group, has decided to establish a whole school encouragement effort by making recycling signs and posting them around the building. They will also be trying to encourage their families to do the same (recycle)! Today we made two recycling boxes for our classroom, one for paper and another for plastic bottles. We have discussed the many ways recycling is important, created persuasive writing, read books and watched a video on the recycling processes! Students are encouraged to bring in plastic bottles from home. If they are able to collect enough by the first week of May we will use them for some DIY projects and what is left we will recycle! I'm thinking piggy banks! Then that will stem into more hands on PBL (project based learning) fun with money! Also, as soon as the weather lets up we are going to take a community walk and pick up trash to help serve God’s Earth and the community!
