Students LOVE to code! They are having a great time creating their own games and getting characters from one place to another, or flying a bird! Visit, htt://www.hourofcode.com and your child can code from ANYWHERE! EPIC! EPIC! is another wonderful reading website we have been using in our classroom. Your child can log on from home, as well as the classroom, getting access to hundreds of books! They can access read along books, videos, every genre, and more to get excited about reading. They can find books that will adjust to their individual level. I encourage them after reading to take an AR test on their books! This week we are wrapping up Christmas Around the World, and biography research projects (reports will be presented after we return from winter break). Students who finished early were able to create a Santa Sleigh STEM project- they will race them next week!
We are excited to begin our Advent wreaths today, along with Christmas Around the World! Today's first country was, Canada! During this unit we will be taking a trip to: Canada, Germany, Mexico, Philippines, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. These adventures around the world will also lead us into learning about Saints. Along with incorporating social studies and Skyping with other 4th graders to discover their traditions and geographic regions!
I am very excited about all the adventures and educational experiences we will be discovering! I will update the blog regularly so each family can take enjoy all our adventures! |
