It is always great to take some time out of our very busy school days to stop, reflex and enjoy the most important parts of life: Jesus and each other! The week is coming to an end but there continues to be many exciting experiences to come! Today was, Decade Day - I LOVE the 80's! Tomorrow will be Grandparents day, the students are really looking forward to having this time with their beloved families!
Thank you for all the Holy Family Catholic School families that support our school and being involved in this wonderful time of educating our young generation. This week is, CSW! Holy Family will be celebrating by doing several events and fun activities. I will post many pictures of our exciting experiences!
Tues: Today we did a scavenger hunt with our faith families (entire school) and afterwards the 4th grade class did a saint research paper! Many of them even dressed up as Saints! FLAT STANLEY Today we started our Flat Stanley pen pal project! We have partnered up with another 4th grade classroom located in England at RAF Lakenheath, U.S. Air Force Base. Many of the students there are from Japan and Germany and have lived in a variety of countries. Their classroom is a, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) classroom.
We are really excited to share photos and stories on how our adventure turns out through the year! We are planning on coordinating an Oreo Stacking project and sharing data with each other. Our class is super excited about this project! I'm sure your child will have a lot to share about this experience! Hour of Code
Students LOVE to code! They are having a great time creating their own games and getting characters from one place to another, or flying a bird! Visit, htt://www.hourofcode.com and your child can code from ANYWHERE! EPIC! EPIC! is another wonderful reading website we have been using in our classroom. Your child can log on from home, as well as the classroom, getting access to hundreds of books! They can access read along books, videos, every genre, and more to get excited about reading. They can find books that will adjust to their individual level. I encourage them after reading to take an AR test on their books! Contact me if you have any questions for these sites or if you need access information. This week we are wrapping up Christmas Around the World, and biography research projects (reports will be presented after we return from winter break). Students who finished early were able to create a Santa Sleigh STEM project- they will race them next week!
We are excited to begin our Advent wreaths today, along with Christmas Around the World! Today's first country was, Canada! During this unit we will be taking a trip to: Canada, Germany, Mexico, Philippines, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. These adventures around the world will also lead us into learning about Saints. Along with incorporating social studies and Skyping with other 4th graders to discover their traditions and geographic regions!
I am very excited about all the adventures and educational experiences we will be discovering! I will update the blog regularly so each family can take enjoy all our adventures! It is always a delight having Matt Miller, from KSNT, join us to speak about weather! This year was especially fun, because he brought the weather truck! 4th grade has just learned about clouds, weather, meteorologist and wind. We will now be focusing on the water cycle! Fun experiments are to come! |
